Area Manager - Safety

Manages the park's daily risk exposure in the areas of fire protection/prevention, safety, first aid, workers' compensation claims, and liability claims. Ensures compliance with all safety laws, rules, and OSHA and environmental regulations. Manages and reviews the work of subordinate staff.


  • Manages all aspects of the department's seasonal staff to include hiring, training, development, supervising, coaching and scheduling.
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities and overall operation of the Safety Department.
  • Assists in developing and implementing park safety and departmental policies, procedures, standards. and training programs.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with local fire and EMS departments as well as other regulatory agencies. Assists in overseeing regulation and compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, etc. Assists in resolving compliance issues.
  • Refers to policies and procedures, technical manuals and diagrams, OSHA and NFPA codes, regulations, laws, hazardous material handling guidelines, training handbooks, operating guidelines, maps, ride operating manuals and manufacturing manuals, medical reference books, etc.
  • Manages and assists in resolving liability and workers' compensation claims. Testifies in hearings and court cases as required.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.



  • Ability to be licensed EMT-Basic through state of MN and National Registry of EMTs.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification.
  • 2-5 Years related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
