JOB PURPOSE:
Manage the Business Engineering Network Technician Staff, assisting staff with processing customer inquiries, contract fulfillment, training, scheduling and certifications.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan and execute project plans; providing the necessary diagrams, documentations, reporting and support.
  • Develop and carry out formal responses to proposal requests.
  • Prepare staff to actively monitor the network systems and their related statistics; effectively troubleshoot network outages or problems as needed.
  • Develop and direct staff, by carrying out the essential elements of company and departmental standards, policies and procedures, and by creating a positive work environment.
  • Communicate clear expectations to Business Engineering Network Technician Staff, hold them accountable for results.
  • Assist the department with the design and maintenance of the business networks.
  • Plan and execute formal technical training for the Network Technicians; mentor and assist with the growth and development of the staff.
  • Assist Management in the budgeting process by providing ideas, justification, and documentation.
  • Secure assistance in design, installation, and trouble shooting.
  • Ensure that viable disaster recovery and back up plans are in place for all systems.
  • Oversee the development of system utilities and tools.
  • Monitor expenses, purchase orders and receiving documents for Network Technician transactions.
  • Communicate and maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation for passwords, diagrams, security, etc.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of all MC network systems and components.
  • Communicate with other departments to handle escalated issues; report significant activity to the NOC and keep detailed statistics regarding these activities.
  • Compile timely, comprehensive, and accurate reports.
  • Adhere to and possess a working knowledge of all employment practices as it relates to all phases of employment.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Midco’s privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
  • Maintain regular attendance to be available to provide direction and communication to team members.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Two to three years’ managerial experience preferred.
  • Three to five years’ network experience in the telecommunications field required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 70 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • May be required to climb poles (with proper equipment), ladders, and other structures as necessary.
  • May be required to work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces as needed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The Employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year around in all weather conditions. The Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
