Genetic Management Systems Internship

Overall Responsibilities:                                                                  
The Genetic Management System Intern prepares, loads and processes GMS herd data thru the GMS computer program, while providing professional and courteous service to external and internal customers. Additionally, the incumbent provides operational support to ensure effective maintenance of GMS.
Specific accountabilities:
*Prepare, load and process GMS herd data thru the GMS computer program in a timely, accurate and efficient manner to ensure a 24 hour turn around. 
 *Organize and prepare data files for loading into the GMS Application and supporting databases (CIS, NMR, CDN, Genomics etc) in accordance with the GMS Data Load Processes and Procedures manual.
  *Review Master Plans and correctly input data while managing time and computer usage to maintain proper turnaround time.
   *Ensure that herds are processed, distributed, communicated as quickly and accurately as feasible.  
    *Maintain an understanding of the genetic science involved with the GMS program to help problem solve and satisfy requests from external and internal customers
*Maintain professional and courteous service to external and internal customers.
     *Ensure that herd information is processed accurately to minimize the amount of reruns and rejects which will minimize turnaround time. 
     *Provide effective problem solving and troubleshooting all data load and processing issues, (including Mobile Mate and GSP) to ensure a 24 hour turnaround is maintained on all herds. 
         
*Complete regular genetic audits to ensure accurate data is in the GMS system.
*Organize, data load and process all Genetic Audits within a 1 week period from time received. 
*Problem solve and troubleshoot any data or genetic questions that may arise during the Genetic Audit creation. 
*Assist field in the creation of additional support files necessary to achieve success in the sales process of the Genetic Audit.

Qualifications and experience:
*Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural related field such as Animal Science, Agricultural Education, or Agribusiness or equivalent experience.
*AI or Dairy related background or 2-3 years agribusiness/agriculture related field experience
*Strong Communication and customer service skills
*Ability to learn and work with the following systems GMS Application, MobileMate Application (MobileMate), GMS User Maintenance, GMS Active List Maintenance, Genetic Services Portal (GSP).     
*High proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office Systems
