Associate - Fellowship - Management Engineering & Internal Consulting

The department of Management Engineering and Internal Consulting (ME&IC) has a total of 6 associate fellowship positions available in summer 2020. The fellowship is a 1-YEAR LIMITED TENURE position located in Rochester, MN.

The Management Engineering and Internal Consulting (ME&IC) Fellowship is a one-year advanced learning experience designed to develop outstanding professionals committed to a career in health systems engineering. The Fellowship allows graduate-level associates to gain the practical experience necessary to meet the minimum requirements of a Health Systems Engineer. This position differs from a traditional administrative fellowship in that associates interface directly with clients (Mayo Clinic departments/divisions or committees), from project kick-off to closure, with limited formal direction from supervisors/preceptors.

Associates will build their systems engineering skillsets through formal and informal educational opportunities and mentorship from experienced Health Systems Engineers. Another key difference from a traditional administrative fellowship is exposure to various functional areas achieved through onboarding, education and project variety, rather than rotations. Practical experience includes providing ME&IC support to any Mayo Clinic entity requesting assistance with business strategy and planning, business process engineering, applied analytics or business transformation. The associate will provide analysis, design and recommendations for staffing, workflow, facilities, technology and information needs. Most projects will be cross-functional in nature, involving split or shared responsibility and problem solving with disciplines and personnel from other business areas, sites and regions across the organization. These positions may require travel.
