Technical Intern – Cyber Security

Ball Aerospace 2020 Summer Intern Program:
The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon. At the conclusion of your internship, you will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of your project work to your respective department.

What You’ll Do:
  • Under immediate direction of our Security & Mission Assurance team assist and support in the information assurance activities including assessment and reporting of general organizational cyber hygiene and compliance with industry and US Government regulations.
  • Support incident response process improvements and table-top exercises to validate emergency preparedness program success.
  • Support enhancements to our security awareness, training and education program.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products.
  • Provide support for project meetings, schedule project meetings, assist with project documentation, document meeting minutes, and project action/task items as appropriate.
  • Create/analyze process documentation to increase efficiency.
  • Create and maintains files, draft internal correspondence, and perform general and/or clerical duties as assigned.
  • Provide support for various cyber security and information assurance activities within the Security and Mission Assurance department.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:
  • Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2020. We will also accept graduating seniors enrolled in a post graduate program.
  • Pursuing a degree in information technology, computer science, project management, or business.  
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Conceptual understanding of Information Technology.
  • A background in information systems, information and cyber security, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
  • Solid communication skills, ability to lead meetings, speak in front of groups.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and ability to work independently as needed.
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, positive and enthusiastic.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
