Intern - Service Desk (Normal, IL)

Position Overview:
This internship will provide hands on experience in the business technology team. The intern will learn how to track and resolve service desk telephone calls, support computer hardware and other business technology maintenance tasks. This is a paid internship; however, students must provide their own housing and transportation. Business related transportation and expenses will be paid by the organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Track service desk telephone calls and email requests to ensure issues are properly prioritized, monitored, escalated and resolved appropriately.
  • Support all company approved software packages, operating systems, computer hardware and tools.
  • Support network infrastructure and computer systems.
  • Ensure the proper day-to-day operation of Citrix, PCs, telephones and infrastructure.
  • Perform installations, repairs, upgrades, backups and other maintenance tasks.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Active student pursuing an information technology degree and/or certificate.
  • Knowledge of network operating systems (LAN/WAN), data and voice communications, desktop operating systems and configurations and server desktop and laptop hardware configurations.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills, including the ability to translate technical information into non-technical terms.
  • Strong time management and planning skills are also required, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
