Business Systems Analyst Summer Intern

JOB FUNCTION 
At Post Consumer Brands, the Business Systems Analysts are the business facing arm of IT. These individuals are responsible for understanding and owning the systems that run the business, driving value to the business through the expanded use of these systems, and providing continuous improvement leadership across the IT application landscape.   
The Business Systems Analyst Intern will be assigned to support a specific business area, such as manufacturing, finance, trade & promotions, or commercialization, under the mentorship of a Sr. Business Systems Analyst.   
 
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES / DUTIES 
The Business Systems Analyst Intern may assist in a number of project and/or operations support roles in the IT department. A successful intern will complete, at a minimum, 2 projects and 2 “shift left” activities. Assignments may include work such as: 
 
Project Examples: 
  • Work with Senior Business Systems Analysts, Project Managers, & Business Managers to define project scope, budget estimate, skill-set requirements and ROI for business initiatives.  
  • Assist in the gathering of business requirements. Write functional specification documents from requirements.  
  • Create and maintain test scenarios, test scripts and test data for validating system design, configuration, integration and performance.   
  • Define, document and implement system configuration changes 
 
“Shift Left” Activity Examples: 
  • Identify root cause for recurring issues reported through the service desk, collaborate to design the remediation, and plan the implementation of the solution. This may be through the creation of Knowledge Base Articles that allow the issue to be resolved by the service team with the first call to the service desk, identification of the business and functional requirements to resolve the root cause, or empowering the business to resolve the issue themselves through training and documentation. 
 
Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.  
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
  • Candidates must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in Information Technology / Engineering or related field 
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, e-mail, and SharePoint. 
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and in teams 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action 
  • A high level of competence in computer applications and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool  
  • Ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives, identify deviations from the plan, and facilitate resolution 
  • Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization 
  • Previous internship or work experience (strongly preferred)  
  • Interest in the consumer packaged goods / manufacturing industry with the desire to start a career with Post Consumer Brands after graduation (strongly preferred)
