Data Warehouse Business Intelligence Summer Intern

JOB FUNCTION 
The purpose of this position is to assist the IT department with documenting and enhancing DW operations and BI reporting systems. This experience will have the opportunity to gain exposure to many aspects of the IT department and work closely with the team to accurately maintain all artifacts in source/document control system. This provides an opportunity for the intern learn one or more new tools like Oracle, DataStage, Cosgnos, Tableau and others. 
 
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES / DUTIES 
The Data Warehouse Business Intelligence Intern may assist in a number of project and/or operations support roles in the IT department. Assignments may include work such as: 
  • Various DW/BI analyst duties involving understanding Data Warehouse database in Oracle including data queries, identify records to be updated, identify tables/objects which are not used to be marked obsolete and dropped etc. 
  • Analyze Legacy BI reports 
  • Facilitate user session, including research, reminders, and follow-up activities and come up with list of reports to be marked Obsolete or moved to appropriate dashboards area 
  • Creation of new and/or missing documents for DW/ETL and BI Reports Specs 
  • Standardize User Acceptance Testing Process for DW and BI artifacts 
 
Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.
  
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
  • Candidates must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in Computer Science or related field 
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and in teams 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action 
  • A high level of competence in computer applications and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool  
  • Ability to research issues to resolution 
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques 
  • Strong customer service approach to dealing with people at all levels 
  • Ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives, identify deviations from the plan, and facilitate resolution 
  • Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization 
  • Experience with Relational Database concept (strongly preferred) 
  • Previous internship or work experience (strongly preferred)  
  • Interest in the consumer packaged goods / manufacturing industry with the desire to start a career with Post Consumer Brands after graduation (strongly preferred)
