Stack Test and Emissions Monitoring Engineer

The Department of Natural Resources Division of Environmental Management is hiring an Air Management Engineer specializing in stack testing at either the entry or advanced level. Position Summary:
Air Management is seeking highly motivated engineers to join the compliance team managing emissions testing (stack testing) and continuous emission monitoring at regulated facilities. Responsibilities will be performed under supervision while becoming well versed in test methods and rules surrounding the Clean Air Act.

Stack testing engineers ensure the tools of emissions testing and monitoring are being sufficiently and properly utilized. Successful candidates will use communication and negotiation skills to work with state and federal staff, the public, regulated facilities, and local officials to accomplish assigned goals.

Special Notes:  There is an expectation of travel throughout the state to regulated facilities with occasional overnight stays and a non-standard schedule. Work will infrequently include witnessing emissions testing at heights above 20 feet.

Qualifications:  
Minimally qualified candidates will meet one of the criteria listed below:
• Registration as a Professional Engineer as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.04, Wis. Stats
• A specific record, issued by the professional engineering section of the Department of Safety and Professional Services, showing 4 years or more of experience in engineering work of a character satisfactory to the professional engineering section AND satisfactory completion of the fundamentals of engineering exam
• Has graduated or will graduate by time of appointment from a recognized college or university with a degree in a related engineering field
• Has equivalent professional training and practical experience so as to be deemed a professional engineer as defined in Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.01, Wis. Stats. AND also deemed to be qualified to engage in professional engineering practice as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.04 or 443.05, Wis. Stats.
