Overview

A full-time Research Assistant II position is currently available in Dr. Kent Kiehl’s laboratory at The Mind Research Network. This position is based in Madison, Wisconsin, with forensic locations in Fond du Lac, Fox Lake, and Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related research field required (MA also accepted); pay will be commensurate with experience. All candidates should possess strong interest, and preferably experience, working with incarcerated populations; and should have completed some basic research methods coursework.
 
Duties include working with a research team on several grant-funded studies examining the cognitive and neural systems underlying psychopathy, substance abuse, and related illnesses. Hires will learn to assess psychopathy via clinical interviews, perform neuropsychological testing and DSM-5 structured interviews, and assist with preparation of grants, ethics proposals, and manuscripts. Clinical assessment training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates who are seeking to go onto graduate or medical school. Qualified hires may also receive training in brain imaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)) data collection and analyses. Position will include access to the MRN Mobile Imaging System that is deployed to local prisons (adolescent and adult male/female facilities).  



Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related research field and 6 months or more of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained.
 
All candidates should possess strong interest in, and preferably experience with, working with incarcerated populations; and should have completed some basic research methods coursework.
 
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
 
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check.
