Job Description


The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is seeking Communications & Marketing interns who are interested in pursuing a career in public relations, marketing, advertising, government relations, community relations, communications, journalism, digital arts, and media, or related fields to provide high-level support within the team. This is an excellent opportunity to earn college credit if approved by your college or university and to gain valuable, real-world experience. Candidates must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and be flexible with shifting priorities. Ideal candidates must also be highly organized with a keen attention to detail and will assist with special projects, as well as day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

Interns assist the team with a number of meaningful projects and learning opportunities including:

·        Tracking and compiling pertinent media coverage.

·        Maintaining and updating press lists database.

·        Drafting press materials and correspondence.

·        Producing digital content for Agency website, social media channels, and employee communications.

·        Attending press and outreach events.

·        Assisting in special projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:

·        Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to pay attention to details and meet deadlines.

·        Strong written, verbal, and phone communication skills a must.

·        Strong research and computer skills required. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet research and Outlook.

·        Knowledge of online trends, social media, technologies and marketing tools.

·        Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design and/or video editing a plus.

·        Fluency in other languages helpful and a sense of humor a plus.
