USACE-Rock Island District (Intership/Coop)

WHO: Representatives for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Rock Island District, will be at the Fall Career Fair.
 
WHAT: Career Fair                                                 WHEN: September and October 2019
WHERE: Colleges and Universities within the Rock Island District area of responsibility.
 
WHY: Recruitment of veterans, students, recent graduates (within 2 years post-college graduation or within 9 months of graduation), and/or full performance level employees, including using direct hire authority for multiple disciplines and grade levels, from GS-03 to GS-13 positions. Depending on GS position/location selected for, promotion potential maybe to the GS-03, 04, 05, 07, GS-9, 11, 12, or 13 level. 
 
PAY RANGE: $27,221 to $116,130; pay will be based on such factors as your qualifications, education, experience, training, duty location, and availability of funds.  https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/

JOB LOCATIONS: The positions will be filled in Rock Island, Peoria, IL, Davenport, Johnston, IA

EVALUATIONS: Candidates will be evaluated in accordance with the qualification and eligibility requirements set forth by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) located at https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards. On the spot interviews will be conducted.
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States.  
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
  • Personnel security investigation required.
  • A trial or probationary period may be required. 
  • Some positions may require a valid driver's license. 
  • Some positions may require a security clearance to include fingerprinting.
  • Some positions may require temporary duty travel.
  • Some positions may require a Defense Acquisition Certification within 2 years of appointment.
  • Some positions may require a baseline physical.
  • Some positions may require a Financial Disclosure to be completed at time of hire and annual thereafter.
  • The following MAY be paid or offered: travel and relocation expenses, recruitment incentive, and/or student loan repayment.
  • Promotion progression to the target position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of training requirements and continuous satisfactory performance.   
  • Post-secondary student appointments are term in nature and have the potential to convert into a permanent appointment in the competitive service.
  • Selectee must obtain a passing score on the appropriate Administrative Careers with America (ACWA) assessment prior to appointment or conversion, if applicable.
