Nursing School New Graduate

Northern Light Acadia Hospital is seeking ALL NURSING STUDENTS WHO ARE EITHER CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THEIR FINAL SEMESTER OF NURSING SCHOOL OR RECENTLY GRADUATED FROM NURSING SCHOOL to apply for our GRADUATE ORIENTEE program!

Job Summary:

The Nursing School New Graduate (NSNG)has graduated from an accredited school and is eligible to sit for the Maine NCLEX exam. TheNSNG willprovided proof of Authorization to Test prior to hire date and will obtain licensure within three months of hire date. If the NSNG does not pass the NCLEX exam within three months of the hire date he or she may opt to fulfil an open non-licensed personnel position if available. TheNSNG is not expected to have a skill set beyond what is learned in the clinical and classroom setting, but may have completed a psychiatric student nurse partnership or have other relevant experience. TheNSNG is engaged in an intensive orientation that involves learning Psychiatric Nurse specific skills while under the supervision of a licensed preceptor. Tasks and competencies requiring a nursing license are explored from a theory and observation standpoint with practical learning and demonstration to occur post licensure. The NSNG demonstrates a clear understanding of the limits pending licensure entails and does not knowingly practice in a fashion that jeopardizes patient care, his or her preceptor's license or his or her own eligibility to test.

Job Requirements:

· Maine RN license or eligible to obtain (currently in last semester of Nursing School or recently graduated from Nursing School).

· Must have current BLS certification.

· Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

· Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.

· Maintains regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, Federal and State.

· Complies with all organizational policies regarding EMHS's Code of Conduct and ethical business practices.

· Completes I-Care Mandatory Education on a yearly basis.

· Attends all mandatory safety related education programs.

· Follows safety procedures to prevent injury to self and others.

· Carries assigned keys and wears hospital ID badge at all times.

· Refrains from the abuse of chemicals.

Physical Demands:

· Visual acuity, color vision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensation are necessary to respond to patient response and requests.

· The ability to read and speak English, to communicate and document information.

· Must possess the manual dexterity and a degree of body strength and flexibility to respond to aggressive patient behavior.

· The ability to reach and stretch intermittently.

· Time may be spent sitting at a computer, collaborating with other healthcare team members.

· Standing and walking comprises some of the workday.
