IT Systems Analyst


The City of Bryan is seeking qualified candidates for IT Systems Analyst. This position is responsible for the support, administration, maintenance, inventory, and integration of midrange hardware, application servers, and software applications.

Responsibilities include:
  • Analyzes, designs, configures, develops, installs, tests, modifies, implements, monitors, and supports programs or systems, including in-house developed or purchased applications through testing and production environments.
  • Communicates with end-users concerning their information needs and system requirements to arrive at practical methods of data input, output, and reporting. Maintains proper documentation and tracks all system modifications and requests.
  • Assists in managing the security of operation and application software and advises users in developing data and system security.
  • Monitors Help Desk trouble tickets and performs necessary actions to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with technical staff and vendors to coordinate activities, resolve development and maintenance issues, and perform application tuning.
  • Anticipates and analyzes problems and offers solutions and/or alternatives.
  • Monitors, follows and enforces technology standards and policies.
  • Maintains documentation of applicable processes and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge and level of expertise to ensure effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Remains current on industry standards and principles through regular review and study of technical material via online classes and training site subscriptions.
  • Provides 24 × 7 on-call support, after hours migration support, and technical IT support of restoration activities during storms.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  
Minimum Requirements:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field of study plus at least (2) years of related experience; or an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field of study plus at least four (4) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of related education, experience, certification, and training may also be considered.
  • Must possess working experience with the following:
  • Windows, IBM iSeries Midrange, and Windows Server
  • Maintaining applications in support of customer-oriented organizations
  • Supporting and configuring packaged software applications

Preferred:
  • Experience with ASP, ASP.NET, VBScript, VB.NET, HTML , and JavaScript.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with report development/deployment using Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports Server, IBM Cognos, Tableau, or Toad.
  • Experience with supporting municipal government applications.
