Actuarial Intern - Summer 2020

SUMMARY STATEMENT
This position’s primary responsibility is to support the various actuarial teams for F&G Annuities & Life.

ORGANIZATION
This position reports to actuarial staff and has no direct reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze results demonstrating knowledge of actuarial concepts and processes. 
  • Prepare and maintain models & reports, as well as participation in reconciliation with results.
  • Assist in developing answers to business questions through data.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned on a timely basis.
 
The duties of this position vary depending on the actuarial team but could also include:
  • Support the monthly financial close process to calculate and validate Statutory, GAAP, and tax reserves and assist with financial statement preparation.
  • Support the maintenance of the pricing models and assist in pricing of life or annuity products.  
  • Support the development and production of various experience studies used by the Company.
  • Support the production of cash flow testing and other projection related tasks, including sensitivity tests and risk based capital projections.                                                                        
 
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Working towards bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related technical field.
  • 1 – 3 actuarial exams passed preferred, with an interest in pursuing FSA.
  • 0 – 2 years’ experience preferred with an actuarial internship preferred.
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills.
  • Fixed indexed annuity knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to Moses/AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems.
  • Highly articulate, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and displays a high energy level.
  • Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group.
  • Attention to detail and high degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility.
  • Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities. Demonstrate ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations.
