As a Senior Software Engineer developing and supporting our content systems, you will work as a full stack engineer focused on backend development. Using Java and AWS heavily, you will work on one of our most business-critical apps. This role requires a combination of creative problem solving and strong functional understanding to develop new functionality and maintain the current system. Reporting to one of our Technology Managers, you will learn new skills and master the ProQuest technology-verse.

• Participate as a team member on various engineering projects.

• Suggest alternative methodologies or techniques to achieving desired results.

• Develop and maintain understanding of products, manufacturing processes, and product applications.

• Manually test and unit test assigned applications.

• Write application technical documentation.

• Review and revise new procedures as needed for the continuing development of high quality systems.

• Maintain knowledge of technical advances and evaluates new hardware / software for company use.

• Follow departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions.

• Works closely with senior team members to increase functional knowledge.

• Bachelors’ degree or higher in related field, such as Computer Engineering or Computer Science, plus at least 6 years of software development experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to learn and master standard programming languages.

• Significant Java development experience.

• Ability to write detailed design specifications based on user requirements.

• Ability to work with standard office tools.

• Ability to work with source control systems.

• Ability to work with design tools (e.g. Visio).

• Ability to work in an agile environment.

 

• Experience with AWS
