Claims Intern

Looking for an opportunity to learn, grow and develop as a young professional? TrueNorth Companies, headquartered in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa is currently seeking energetic and motivated individuals to participate in our Summer 2020 Internship Program. 
  
TrueNorth is now hiring for a Claims Intern to work with our Claims team in Risk Management, to provide daily assistance to Transportation clients by working as a liaison between the client and the insurance carrier. The team handles claims processing, review and management strategies, as well as mitigation.    

As an Intern with the Claim team, you will:   
  • Learn and execute the claims process  
  • Interact with clients on a daily basis  
  • Record all client communication in agency management systems  
  • Discuss loss details with clients and assist in reporting claims to the insurance carrier  
  • Facilitate the transfer of information from the client to the insurance carrier  
  • Gain an understanding of P & C insurance coverage's & policy information  
  • Build relationships and learn the distinctions of different insurance carriers  
  • Assist the Claims Advocacy team with coordination of client meetings, conference calls, claim reviews, etc.  
  • Shadow other roles within TrueNorth (Account Manager, Business Development, Production, Marketing)   

Required Experience & Skills:   
  • Must be a Junior of Senior status, pursuing a four year degree in Business, Finance, or a related field  
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Excel  
  • Ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the insurance industry
