Claims Intern

TrueNorth Companies, headquartered in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa is currently seeking energetic and motivated individuals to participate in our Summer 2020 Internship Program.
TrueNorth is now hiring for a Claims Intern to work with our Claims team in Risk Management, to provide daily assistance to Transportation clients by working as a liaison between the client and the insurance carrier. The team handles claims processing, review and management strategies, as well as mitigation.
As an Intern with the Claim team, you will:
- Learn and execute the claims process
- Interact with clients on a daily basis
- Record all client communication in agency management systems
- Discuss loss details with clients and assist in reporting claims to the insurance carrier
- Facilitate the transfer of information from the client to the insurance carrier
- Gain an understanding of P & C insurance coverage's & policy information
- Build relationships and learn the distinctions of different insurance carriers
- Assist the Claims Advocacy team with coordination of client meetings, conference calls, claim reviews, etc.
- Shadow other roles within TrueNorth (Account Manager, Business Development, Production, Marketing)
Required Experience & Skills:
- Must be a Junior of Senior status, pursuing a four year degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Excel
- Ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the insurance industry
