A Grasslands Summer Intern is given the opportunity to learn both the pasture and herd management skills necessary to operate a pasture-based dairy, a profitable and sustainable business model for the future of dairy.
Company Overview
Grasslands Consultants LLC is a pasture based dairy farming business, focused on growing grass and making milk in southwest Missouri. We operate 15 dairies in the Monett/ Aurora/ Carthage area, with our office in Monett. Our parent Company is Canterbury Grasslands and is located in New Zealand.
Position Description
The Intern performs a variety day to day operations on the farm, under the direction of the farm manager. The Intern will be learn by completing tasks related to feeding and pasture management, animal health, milk collection and storage, dairy hygiene and cleanliness, breeding, farm maintenance, and other duties as require for the effective management of the farm.
The intern will have the opportunity to meet and spend time with the Missouri Management Team while touring farms, this will help to gain an understanding of pastoral dairy farming on a corporate level.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
· Majoring in Dairy or Animal Science
· Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
· Plan to graduate no later than May 2021 OR have completed junior year.
· Proficient in basic Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint)
· Have a valid driver’s license and transportation.

Logistics
The internship will
· Take place at Mariposa 3 Farm in Granby, MO.
· Begin June 1, 2020 and extend 12 weeks.
· Have a schedule of 11 days on and three days off
· Include housing.
