*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Position Description: Intern will work in uniform providing security full time at the South Dakota State Prison. Duties will include supervising and directing inmates incarcerated in the Prison. This entails monitoring inmates during meals, recreation, inmate work assignments, in cell halls, and at special activities. The intern will escort inmates to appointments inside the prison and outside the prison. The intern will enforce rules, policies and carry out a wide variety of security procedures to maintain the good security of the facility.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college or university and have sophomore standing or above by the end of the Fall 2019 semester, or must currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months) by the start of the internship. Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Candidates will be subject to an extensive criminal background check as well as drug screening prior to employment as an intern.
