Land Management Seasonal Aid

Seasonal duties: As Whiterock Conservancy is a non-profit land trust. Interested candidates can expect a great deal of variability in tasks. The primary tasks include running equipment or handling goats for ecological restoration, mowing, weed eating, handling canoes/ kayaks, trail maintenance, working with small groups, supervising conservation corps volunteer work projects, native habitat restoration, seed collecting, and various other duties. Must be willing to learn to run chainsaws- previous experience is a bonus. Must be willing to work weekends. Housing will be available, no pets and no smoking allowed. Other benefits include kayaking down the Middle Raccoon River, watching fledged eagles in flight school, and seeing a wide variety of native flora and fauna. Coon Rapids, Iowa is a welcoming community that offers three eating establishments, a grocery store, small town entertainment, four churches, and easy access to Des Moines, Iowa. We have flexible start and end dates but expect a commitment in May- August.

The 5500 acres of Whiterock include remnant prairie, reconstructed prairie, oak savanna, oak forest, various wetlands, and 40 miles of trails.
