Intern - Fresh Meats Cattle Buyer

SUMMARY: As a Cattle Procurement Summer Intern, you will be responsible for learning the entire cattle procurement process. Throughout the 10 to 12 week period you will be exposed to scalehouse procedures, to include booking loads for local cattle deliveries and keeping an effective book schedule for accuracy in maintaining plant slaughter operations. You will have the opportunity to train in grade and yield kill sheet information, weight docks and other buying procedures. Upon completion of your internship, you will fully comprehend Tyson's buying practices that can position you well for advancement in becoming a Cattle Buyer.
REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Students will be sourced from a 2 to 4 year college or university program; must be in good standing; Agriculture or Business related majors preferred.

Experience: Previous cattle experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Basic Computer Knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; possess leadership and persuasive selling skills while demonstrating a strong work ethic.

Special Skills: Motivated, self-starter who has the desire to learn from others; ability to work independently or as part of a team; strong problem solving skills; time management and multitasking abilities; strong interpersonal skills.

Position Specific Requirements: This is a 10-12 week Internship and is tentatively scheduled to start middle May and end middle of August. Must be enrolled in a college or university with degree-seeking status. Housing assistance is available for qualified candidates.
