ACE EPIC NPS DC - Women’s History Fellowship with the Cultural Resources Office of Interpretation and Education (CROIE)
Summary: The Women's History Fellow will work with the NPS National Coordinator of the 19th Amendment Centennial Commemoration in the Cultural Resources Office of Interpretation and Education (CROIE) to bring together 19th Amendment and women's history uncovered by parks, regions, and programs into a national context and to connect those histories with other national stories. Such work may include that done by interns, staff, partners, and as part of the 19th Amendment Girl Scout Park Ranger program. The Fellow will communicate with the field and relevant partners and scholars to collect these stories, researching and creating context(s) to connect them, and creating digital content to share the information out more broadly (e.g., shared content on nps.gov; Storytime with Historic Places, and potentially other products). The Fellow will also assist in the preparation of a report documenting the NPS 19th Amendment Centennial Commemoration.
Start Date: Negotiable for the right candidate, though no later than January 31, 2020
End Date: 50 weeks from start date

Compensation: The ACE Intern will complete 40 hours/week and receive a living allowance of $1120/week (a $28/hour equivalent for 40 hr/wk) and a travel allowance of $100/month (x12 months). There is no housing provided or moving allowance. However travel costs associated with the project needs will be covered or reimbursed.
Position Description: Women's History Fellow will communicate with NPS staff and relevant partners and scholars (for example, interns, partners, and contractors) to:
- Collect research and project stories,
- Perform research and create national context(s),
- Connect with additional important anniversaries such as the 19th Amendment centennial, Stonewall 50th, 400 years of the African Diaspora, and the USA 250th,
- Create digital content to share the information
- Assist in the preparation of a report documenting the NPS 19th Amendment Centennial Commemoration,
- Travel in support of the project is anticipated and required,
- Support other office projects such as Telling All Americans' Stories, nps.gov/tellingallamericansstories
Training: Fellow will receive training from NPS 19th Amendment Commemoration National Coordinator, CROIE staff, and other NPS staff. Training on NPS Content Management System will be provided.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a degree (or be pursuing a degree) in public history or other related disciplines appropriate to the position. A combination of relevant education and appropriate employment or volunteer experience is also acceptable. Resumes must contain enough information to show that the applicant meets the experience as defined in the internship announcement.
Required:
- Fellowship is available to US Citizens and Permanent Residents only
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
- A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to provide documentation (must be 21+ to drive for position duties, if required).
- Experience and/or knowledge in the mission of the NPS and other federal land management agencies
- Must be able to pass a Federal background investigation
The Fellow must be willing to represent ACE and the NPS in a professional, positive and enthusiastic manner. Controlled substances are not allowed at any time during the performance of duties or while on federal property, regardless of State law. ACE reserves the right to conduct drug testing.
