Security Officer

Job Title:  Security Officer
Schedule : Full Time - Days, Night, Overnight
Location:  Omaha, NE

Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Security or the Director of Security, the Security Officer patrols BTNRH-Downtown Medical Campus, BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campus, or any BTNRH Clinic, facility, or property as required. Patrols grounds and parking lots to enforce hospital safety and security; controls hospital traffic flow and parking. Routine work assignments are performed independently or as a team with others. Specific instructions are received for non-routine work assignments. Work assignments are reviewed regularly and may be altered as needed.
Responsibilities:
  • Enforces the BTNRH's security, traffic, and parking policies and procedures. Observes and reports unsafe conditions. Makes regular interior and exterior patrols of the BTNRH- Downtown Medical Campus or the BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campus using tour tracking systems to ensure that security and safety standards are met and maintained as directed by local policy, post orders, and applicable regulations. Checks all key stations and other designated areas to detect security violations. Investigates and reports incidents involving personal injury, property damage, theft or vandalism occurring on BTNRH property or areas under Hospital jurisdiction and completes the designated BTNRH reports.
  • Assists/Code 10's. Renders routine assistance to all personnel, i.e., employees, patients and visitors. Escorts personnel to and from vehicles when requested. Responds to routine and/or emergency calls, to include Code 10s in the PRTF to utilizing the nationally recognized personal restraint training model for assistance and takes the appropriate actions. Confronts unauthorized personnel.
  • Assists with the moving of office and/or lab furniture, food carts, mail, package deliveries, and equipment as needed. Assists with setting-up meeting rooms for special functions, as the need arises.
  • Assists with keeping the entrances to the BTNRH-Downtown Medical Campus buildings and the BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campus free of trash. Performs snow removal, as needed. Enforces the 'Tobacco Free' Campus policy. Issues various keys to employees and/or contractors who are working at the BTNRH-Downtown Medical Campus and the BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campus. Issues BTNRH parking decals to employees working at the BTNRH-Downtown Medical Campus, BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campus & Affiliated Clinics.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Valid driver's license, with a favorable driving record
  • Minimum of one year experience in Security, Military, or Law Enforcement, preferred
  • Must complete and maintain certification in the nationally recognized personal restraint training model (SCM) within 60 days of hire,
  • Must keep current on BLS (CPR) certification
  • Must be able to work at the BTNRH-Downtown & Pacific Street Medical Campuses
  • Must be 21 years of age to work in the Residential Treatment Center.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Ability to drive BTNRH vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed, at both the Downtown and Pacific Street locations.
  • Ability to promote and maintain excellent public relations with patients, visitors and all employees and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to do snow removal as needed.
  • Ability to detect, respond, and report all unsafe conditions accordingly, as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical restraints, such as Code 10's or if staff or public safety is threatened according to Safe Crisis Management Training.
  • Ability to work at the BTNRH-Downtown and BTNRH-Pacific Street Medical Campuses.
  • Knowledge of operating a battery jump pack to assist in starting vehicles.
  • Safe and urgent handling of time sensitive mail items that include lifesaving medications in a timely manner.
  • Frequent conference room staging including lifting tables and chairs, moving and rearranging furniture.
