NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION / CANNABIS RESTORATION AND REMEDIATION / HEADQUARTERS
 
The reporting location for this position is the Headquarters Office located in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
 
The Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (Proposition 64) funds the cleanup, remediation, and restoration of environmental damage in watersheds affected by marijuana cultivation and provides stewardship of State Park units in a manner that discourages and prevents the illegal cultivation, production, sale and use of marijuana and marijuana products on public lands. This important and challenging position is an exciting opportunity to join California State Parks and participate in the restoration and remediation of impacts of marijuana cultivation on State Lands.
 
This position will provide technical assistance to address complex hydrologic and geologic issues, provide guidance for layout of infrastructure and land use, and recommend designs and solutions of projects to mitigate and repair marijuana cultivation impacts through remediation and restoration, and will develop and implement protective strategies. This Engineering Geologist will coordinate with other Proposition 64 Remediation and Restoration staff in the Natural Resources Division, other divisions at headquarters and in the Districts to fulfill related responsibilities. This Engineering Geologist position requires a high level of independent action and the ability to both identify and solve complex program-related issues and to make sound recommendations to management for program improvement.
 
Based at Headquarters in Sacramento, Statewide travel may involve up to of 20% of the incumbent’s time.
 
This position requires a valid California Class “C” Driver’s license.
