Internship - Gems and Minerals Collection - Spring 2020

Gems and Minerals Collection Internship
The Gems and Minerals Center at the Perot Museum aims to elevate interest and understanding of gems and minerals. As part of their new strategic plan, a relocation of collections will be a part of this key top-priority initiative. An intern will be needed for Fall 2019 (September- November) to assist in unpacking, verifying catalog classification, and securing specimens in their new storage. The intern’s schedule would be a 4 hour shift 2 days a week. Applicants should be entering their junior or senior year of college and have some course work related to mineralogy and/or geology. Supervisors during the internship will be the Gems and Minerals Director and the Gems and Minerals Registrar. The selected intern will gain insider knowledge of curatorial work specific to handling minerals specimens and working with classification systems.
