International Operations Internship Summer 2020 - Unpaid

Summer 2020 Internship starts June 1, 2020 and ends on August 30, 2020
Develop your career goals within a healthcare organization that does business internationally. The internship offers a hands-on learning opportunity for students seeking exposure to international business development, international operations, international financial operations, global human resources, and global patient services. Advance your skills using multiple languages while working in a truly multi-cultural environment and assisting the team with international projects and administrative tasks. Participate in a structured learning experience under the mentorship and guidance of department leaders. In addition to the personal and academic outcomes noted by your school’s program, at the conclusion of the unpaid, non-clinical student experience at Cleveland Clinic, the intern will be able to:
  • Demonstrate the ability to function as an effective team member
  • Apply theoretical knowledge and skills in an authentic business environment
  • Gain new knowledge and develop new skills to successfully engage in unfamiliar tasks and activities
  • Use theoretical knowledge and skills to solve problems
  • Assess, critique, and improve her/his knowledge and skills during the internship experience
  • Adapt his/her behavior to different business audiences
  • Act professionally in various environments (e.g., mentor, team, independent, etc.) by adhering to business practices, ethical standards, and project commitments

Job Opportunities:
  • Attend and observe operational meetings
  • Assist department personnel in assigned administrative, planning, organizational, technical, and professional tasks
  • Provide suggestions, recommendations, and support needs related to business advisory, operations, HR processes, and special projects
  • Research, compile, tabulate, and analyze data and processes for a variety of administrative and departmental matters
  • Assess international companies and the competitive landscape of potential markets
  • Prepare and present reports; drafts policies and procedures; responds to requests for information
  • Develop networking skills through connections within projects, intern-specific programming and engagement events
  • Participation in Cleveland Clinic course offering opportunities (i.e., Tableau, Project Management, Finance, etc.)
  • Conclude internship with final presentation to International Operations leaders, managers, peers and mentors focusing on business delivery and overall accomplishments

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (junior or senior standing) or a graduate program
  • Preferred Concentration: International business, business administration, healthcare administration, operations management, finance, human resource, or similar

  • None required

  • Can discuss and weigh pros and cons and separate critical issues
  • Can make definitive choices, expresses opinions on issues, and can explain logical path decisions
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Familiarity and ability to work with diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Good numerical skills and confidence to work with budgets
  • Knowledge in flow charts, spread sheets, and metrics
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior international experience and foreign language fluency is a plus
