Internships for Arts and Education Majors

Kansas City Young Audiences’ Community School of the Arts is offering paid internships for its 2020 Spring Break Camps. This is an excellent opportunity to get teaching artist training from some of the best artists in the region, as well as learn how an arts education program is run.
Intern duties include serving as a classroom assistant and communicating with teaching artists, parents, and students about administrative policies. Interns will be responsible for helping groups of 5 – 16 young people throughout their camp day. Interns will oversee snack breaks, lunch and restroom breaks, clean up after students, and participate in classroom activities. Interns serve as a liaison between the artistic and administrative aspects of the Community School of the Arts. As such, interns will have the opportunity to observe and assist accomplished teaching artists. In the classroom, interns can expect to learn classroom management techniques, time management and lesson planning skills, as well as various games and activities to be used in numerous classroom settings.
Spring Break Camps run March 16-20, 2020 (Mon-Fri). There will be a required training meeting prior to the first day of camp.
