Youth Program Specialist
Job Description:
· As a Youth Program Specialist in the Scoutreach program, you will have the responsibility to facilitate weekly meetings at local elementary schools or neighborhood centers. Meetings last about 60-90 minutes.
· Training is provided and while awareness of the Scouting program is a plus, it is not a prerequisite.
· We currently provide programs at several sites throughout Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Depending on the demand, interns could be offered multiple sites.
· Must provide programs during the scheduled hours determined in advance by the Council & program site. Based on your class schedule, accommodations can be made as to which weekdays you can commit to.
· Plan and initiate a curriculum of activities to develop the program.
· A Youth Program Intern will act as a mentor by the education advice and lessons you will teach.
Preferred Skills:
- Have taken or currently taking classes within the fields of child development, education, or outdoor recreation.
- Desire to learn about non-profits organizations and program development.
- Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills, strong organizational skills in management and planning.
Requirements:
- 21 years of age or older to run program sites or 18 years of age or older to assist with program sites.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Compensation:
• $25 per meeting (2-3 meetings per week). Number of meetings and days of week are flexible to your schedule.
