Program Specialist/Counselor
Camp Akeela is a private residential sleep away program working with kids diagnosed with social and emotional deficits. A large portion of our campers are diagnosed with Asperger's (better known now as High Functioning Autism) and/or a non-verbal learning disorder. If you are someone looking for exposure and experience working in behavior intervention, psychology or education, Camp Akeela will serve as a valuable stepping stone for future professional endeavors in those fields.
You will work as a Counselor or Program Specialist living with and working alongside these kids on a 400 acre camp property in Vermont. Staff strive to facilitate activities and social interactions in order to provide a life changing summer experience.
Staff members who have worked with us at camp have gone on to complete Masters Programs and/or PhDs in Education, BCBA, Neuroscience, Psychology and more.
