Wabtec IT/Software Internship - Summer 2020

Role Summary:

Over the course of this 10-12 week paid internship, you will learn from the industry’s best while working on substantial projects with real world implications. These projects will often expose you to some of the most exciting emerging technologies and trends - AWS, machine learning, cyber security, and DevOps to name a few. Our Summer internship also includes team building, career development opportunities, and upon completion of your internship, you may be extended an opportunity to join the full-time IT rotational program!
Internship Structure:
  • Internship assignments are typically 10 - 12 weeks long at one of our core locations
  • Assignments are determined based on business need, interviewer’s assessment, and applicant’s preference
  • The internship provides significant exposure to key IT and Software leaders at Wabtec
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university or credentialed software accelerator program
  • Degree focused in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, IT Security, Informatics, Information Science/Technology, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Security and Risk Analysis, or other relevant STEM majors with Software/IT experience
  • Minimum cumulative or in-major 3.0/4.0 GPA
  • Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship
  • Must be a rising junior or senior with expected graduation between December 2020 – June 2022

  • Up-to-date with current industry standards, trending software, and information technology development tools
  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in IT, software, or relevant area
  • Solves technical challenges through regular application of common design patterns and identifies appropriate patterns for use in problem solving
  • Ability to learn quickly and successfully navigate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer focus, ability to understand the value proposition for the customer, and commitment to deliver the best value proposition
  • Able to engage positively across multiple departments to establish clarity, vision, and mutual trust to achieve business goals
  • Demonstrated program / project management skills working on and leading teams.
  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
  • Contributes to creative solutions and challenges the status quo
  • Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption
