Supply Chain Engineer

Seeking an entrepreneur-minded engineering, business or supply chain candidate (Industrial, Mechanical, MET) to develop and lead the company’s purchasing and vendor management practices as the result of business growth
Join a highly regarded precision contract manufacturer as a key contributor in delivering a wide variety of highly precise short-run and prototype part orders for customers in optical, aerospace, automotive and other industrial fields.
Job Description
  • Develop and execute a vendor relationship system that includes collection and regular analysis of relevant vendor performance metrics (e.g. on-time delivery, defect rates).
  • Develop and execute inventory management for raw stock and small tools using existing tools and generally accepted practices (e.g. KANBAN)
  • Work with Engineering team to determine needs for raw materials, tooling, subcontracting and special processes for new and existing products. 
  • Lead Engineering meetings to develop new processes for components that require subcontracted or special processes as critical aspects of production.
  • Support Engineering and Management on R&D projects as well as ongoing improvement initiatives and new investments in machinery and technology.
  • Get competitive quotes and write purchase orders for subcontracted determined requirements, adhering strictly to project specifications.
  • Ensure that purchasing records are accurate and work with Accounts Payable and Customer Engagement to ensure required paperwork is provided to customers and billing is accurate.
Skills and Qualifications
·    4-year degree preferred, major in Engineering, Materials Management, Procurement, Operations Planning, or related business field.
·    Work efficiently in a dynamic team environment and thrive on cross-functional interaction
·    Effective Communicator and highly organized
·    Strong project management ability to develop and run good processes for consistent outcomes
·    Self-motivated and resourceful individual
·    Demonstrates an understanding of manufacturing material and processes to be purchased, including raw material, tooling, finishing processes and basic manufacturing processes.
·    Familiar with computers and standard computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office products. Prior experience with an ERP or MRP system is preferred.
