Global Sourcing & Supply Intern - Summer
Role:
This is a seasonal full-time temporary position responsible for assigned projects within the Global Sourcing & Supply group under the direction of other staff. Decisions made in this capacity can impact the financial health of the company in terms of scope of involvement in the acquisition and stocking levels of products and supplies. Accurate, comprehensive work in this role positively impacts overall company performance as well as helps to reduce additional inventory levels and overall expense to the company.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Design and Continuous Improvement Engineers to verify product design requirements and testing.
- Utilize Excel, Access and MRP software to complete data analysis and trending.
- Utilize project management skills to coordinate communication and maintain a timeline of activities pertinent to the assigned project.
- Develop a total Cost of Ownership model to assist in decision-making.
- Provides support as needed on selection of materials and vendor supplied items in cooperation with operations, engineering, sales, marketing, and various other groups.
- Supports process changes and improvements.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment or may be exposed to noise if working in a production area.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Mechanical aptitude and problem analysis and resolution ability
- Technological skills required with training provided to learn operation’s manufacturing software, as well as Microsoft products, including Excel and Word in Windows environment
- Organizational, detail, and follow-up skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong team player
Education and Work Experience:
- Student attending college at the junior or senior level of an undergraduate degree program in Business, Liberal Arts, Engineering or similar
- Experience with or aptitude for learning and understanding the important role of sourcing for the company’s supply line
