Software Engineer, Information Technology (2020 Summer Internship)

About the Technology Internship Program:

We are seeking current students to spend 10-weeks working with and learning alongside our Technology Development and Technology Infrastructure teams. This internship is ideally suited for those who excel in fast-paced environments and who are looking to broaden their skillset at an accelerated pace.  You will have exposure to senior technology development managers and will learn from experienced professionals. Please note that this program is located in Stamford, CT and you must be comfortable working in that location for the summer. 

Technology Development:
The Development Teams create and support a wide variety of software development and technology platforms. There are many opportunities to create innovative improvements and additions to the firm’s technology platforms which include exposure to:

  • Big Data research
  • Open Source based and Agile development methodology tools and processes
  • Applications using HTML5 technology platforms
  • Innovating high volume trade processing onto standardized messaging and data processing platforms
  • Creating applications on the latest Cloud based solution platforms

Technology Infrastructure:

The Infrastructure team provides a wide variety of services including network, voice, server and desktop engineering and support to Point72. The ideal candidate would be expected to:

  • Possess a solid fundamental knowledge in hardware troubleshooting, replacement, operating system and application support
  • Analytical skills with an emphasis on end user computing
  • Provide first and second level desktop support for Portfolio Managers, Traders, Analysts and our Executive team
  • Perform daily system checks as per documented procedures and distribute status reports
  • Document and ensure that all systems and services are in compliance with established policies and procedures

What’s required:
  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program with a relevant major (i.e. Computer Science, Computer Engineering...etc)
  • Demonstrated academic success as reflected in a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0
  • No prior financial/investing experience or knowledge s required, but an interest is helpful 
  • Experience in a formal development environment, with specific experience in the following technical skills: HTLM5/JavaScript, Angular JS, ASP.NET MVC WEB API, UI design skills, C# programming, SQL development
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Analytical, writing, verbal communication and technical skills
  • Commitment to acting with professionalism and integrity at all times
