Director of Online Program Development and Support

The Director of Online Program Development and Support, will implement
the College of Continuing Studies’ Online Program Development Process and
manage the day-to-day operation of the Online Program Support (OPS)
Center. The center will facilitate the development of and provide ongoing
support for online programs in the College of Continuing Studies and other
areas of the university as assigned. The director will act as a project manager
for online program development, working with faculty and academic
departments to assure the timely development and launch of new online
programs and the regular refresh of existing programs. Within the online
program development process, the director will manage and allocate the
resources of the Online Program Support Center.
The director will also work with faculty and departments to assist in the
design of online courses and programs and to ensure that courses and
programs are designed following best practices and universal design
principles.

This is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

DUTIES:
Facilitate the development of online programs and courses through the
implementation of the college’s online program development plan.
• Act as project manager for online program development.
• Manage the staff of the Online Programs Support Center, including the
assignment of staff to particular development and support projects.
• Provide instructional design support for online program and course
development projects and consult with faculty on the best practices in
program and course design.
• Communicate with other university support services to coordinate support
for online faculty, students, and potential students in an attempt to make the
entire online education experience in the college’s programs more user friendly, effective, and seamless.
• Manage the college’s online program quality assurance model and ensure
continuous improvement in our online offerings.
• Collaborate closely with administrators, faculty, and staff on the
development of systems and services to support online programs and
courses.
• Work closely with the staff of the Teaching and Technology Center (TTC)
and other university offices to provide a comprehensive program of training
and faculty support for online courses and programs.
• Collaborate with IT to recommend and evaluate technologies relevant to
online learning.
• Monitor and understand the broader educational and technological
landscape and changes within higher education and the education industry;
apply this understanding to organizational priorities and programmatic
offerings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field
• 5 years of professional experience with at least 2 years of program development or project management experience in online programs.
• Evidence of successful online program launch.
• Knowledge of the best practices in online education.
• Experience working with an enterprise level LMS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in Instructional Design
• Quality Matters certification(s)
• OLC certification(s)
• Experience with Blackboard LMS.
• Experience teaching university-level subject matter online.
