Park Historic Site Specialist I/II

Job Description:
Primary duty is to assist in the management and operations of St. Francois State Park. The park
offers camping, picnicking, trails, river access, and restrooms and showers. Management of the
park is extremely diverse from visitor services, administrative functions, maintenance and
repair, supervision, and resource management.
Job Duties:
Assist in the supervision of maintenance workers, numerous seasonal employees (Visitor
Service Aids, Maintenance Technicians, Naturalist, and Campground Hosts). This will include
recruiting, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, coaching reviewing performance and
educating and enforcing policies.
Visitor Service Management which includes campground management, fee collection and
registration, camping reservations management, educating/enforcing park rules and
regulations.
Maintenance & Repair will involve planning and prioritizing projects, monitoring conditions,
troubleshooting problems, and assisting with repairs. Buildings and grounds must be
maintained to keep them safe and useable condition.
Must have the physical ability to traverse a rugged back country trail system on foot in order to
assess and maintain the trail system.
Assist with administrative functions which includes; annual budget request, tracking and
managing budget allocations, planning and prioritizing long range capital improvements
projects; bidding and purchasing materials and services, revenue reporting, accounts payable
functions, attendance reports and weekly and monthly activity reports and tracking fixed asset
inventory.
Assists with the preservation and restoration of natural landscapes and cultural landmarks. This
includes planning and assisting with prescribed burns and exotic species management.
Processing and recording artifacts into collections database and securing loaned exhibit pieces.
Assist with planning, coordination, permits for special events and outreach programing to
promote Missouri State Parks.
