Intern - Computational Tools Development for Thermo – Mechanical Fluid & Structural Dynamics

Seagate is looking for an intern to work in advanced modeling in our Bloomington, MN location. This position will report to the Senior Manager in Mechanical Design.
About the role:
Help develop computational simulation tools to solve multi-physics copuled thermo-, fluid and structural dynamic problems that pertain to the next generation of recording head design. This intern opportunity will include working closely with head-disk mechanical and air-bearing design engineers to develop solutions to meet aggressive performance metrics for future products. The work will include developing new numerical simulation tools and techniques.   
About you:

  • M.S. or PhD student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Coursework in numerical methods and programming for computational solvers of thermo-, fluid or solid mechanics
  • Strong background in computational methods, programming and interest in engineering and design is preferred.
