Intern, Quality Assurance & Support
Our comprehensive, 12-week paid internship program gives you the opportunity to test your skills working for the nation’s leading producer of cleaner fuels and developer of renewable chemicals. This internship will begin May 18, 2020 and end August 7, 2020.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this job is to perform laboratory testing and data analysis in support of activities associated with the production, sale, and distribution of REG products; with continuous improvement of REG product quality, manufacturing processes and with business development initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analytical Support
• Assess quality and operability for products sold by REG
• Assist in designing and conducting laboratory experiments in support of continuous improvement and business development initiatives
• Evaluate feedstocks for REG manufacturing processes
• Write technical reports and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed
Laboratory Functions
• Organize and maintain laboratory data and other laboratory records
• Perform general laboratory maintenance and cleaning
• Perform laboratory testing as required
• Document all laboratory work, observations, and test results in laboratory notebooks, instrument records, and technical reports
Quality Support
• Compile and analyze data, and generate data reports for applicable stakeholders using Microsoft Excel and PI
• Coordinate sample analysis with independent laboratories
• Create, update, and organize technical documentation for REG products and resources
• Provide technical and product quality information to REG team members from other departments and locations
Other frequent duties:
• Adhere to existing safety standards and help develop new laboratory safety practices whenever possible
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Science, Engineering, Data Analysis, or related degree
**Senior, Junior, or Sophomore status preferred
Experience Required: Laboratory, research, or customer service experience required
**Relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, OneNote)
Basic accounting skills
Advanced math skills
Basic chemistry knowledge
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Knowledge of oils and fats or of other agricultural products and processing
Knowledge of petroleum industry and products
Experience with product quality assurance methodologies and troubleshooting (root-cause analysis, statistical quality control, etc.)
