Conservation Corps Crew Member

WHAT TO EXPECT
With the RMC-CC, you will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to get hands-on training in resource protection with the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, the National Park Service and the National Forest Service staff while studying environmental science. In addition, you will:

SUMMER SCHEDULE
From June 1 through August 14, 2020, RMC-CC crews will work and live in Rocky Mountain National Park and
the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forests. The eleven weeks will be filled with education and diverse work experiences in four general areas:
· TRAILS — Work with professional trail crews to maintain, restore, and build trails.
· RESOURCE MANAGEMENT — Work with invasive plant and re-vegetation crews in the field.
· EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING — Learn from professional scientists in wildlife research and learn from experts about environmental stewardship, leadership, natural history, careers, the roles of non-profits in supporting public lands, and more. Earn up to two hours of transferable credit through Colorado State University.
· BUILDING AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE — Help National Park and Forest Service crews maintain and restore campgrounds, picnic areas, visitor facilities, and historic structures.
The program begins with 1 week of training followed by 4 weeks of conservation work, 1 week of educational programming, 4 weeks of conservation work, and 1 week of wrap-up and career development activities. A typical work week varies from four to five days, depending on the crew.
Crews are made of four-five members and one leader to maximize team-building and personal growth.
As part of the program, interns will earn up to $600 stipend every two weeks and AmeriCorps Education Award. Additionally, Rocky Mountain Conservancy provides housing, work clothing, boots, and gear for the duration of the season.
Crew Locations
Crews will be housed in bunkhouses, cabins, or campgrounds throughout Northern Colorado. These range from front-country locations with quick access to everyday amenities (grocery stores, internet access, cellphone service) to remote wilderness areas with limited communication.
