Video Board Internship

The Vermont Lake Monsters, Single-A, Short Season Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, are currently accepting applications for interns to begin work in May 2020. The various positions provide interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience with a Single-A Minor League Baseball team. Our season runs from mid June until the beginning of September during which we play a 76 game schedule (38 home games, 38 away games) in the New York-Penn League. The team, originally founded in 1994, annually draws roughly 85,000 fans — an impressive feat for a state with a population of just over 600,000 people. All home games are played at historic Centennial Field (Minor League Baseball’s oldest ballpark) in beautiful Burlington, Vermont. The Lake Monsters are proud to be the home of the largest LED video board in the state of Vermont. This 16x27 foot video board has changed the way fans are entertained and engaged while at the ballpark, and has created buzz and excitement in the community. Candidates will be asked to ideas and concepts and turn them into a visual reality. Our creative team will edit and produce high quality videos and animations that will wow Lake Monsters’ fans year-round. Candidates will be looked to as key members of the team’s overall success; therefore they must conduct themselves in a professional manner.

• Work with the promotions director to script and create shows that coincide with the team’s promotional schedule
• Produce each game’s show from the press box while directing the camera operator, PA announcer, and sound operator
• Storyboard internally-made content that pertains to promotions and internal revenue locations (i.e. — team shop, specific concessions, etc.)
• Execute all creative sponsorship fulfillments pertaining to the video board and on-field promotions
• Continually update content in order to keep the show “fresh.” Season ticket holders do not want to see the same “show” over and over
• Create all player headshots and update as transactions occur
• Acquire headshots from visiting teams and implement them into each game (as applicable) Successful candidates will have prior video and animation editing experience, have advanced skills in graphic design, be able to work in the Adobe Creative and Production Suites, and have a strong desire to get into the sport environment.

Qualified candidates, who receive the opportunity to accept a position with the ball club, are expected to accentuate and uphold the tremendous historic tradition upon which the Vermont Lake Monsters has been built. Application procedure and requirements for interested candidates:

• Candidates interested in the internship program must be available to work 9-5 and extended hours; including week nights and weekends. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate the ability to make their internship their top priority for the summer months
• Candidates are required to have their own means of transportation
• Candidates are required to have their own housing in the area
