Production Manager

Job Description

In This Role:
Responsible for manufacturing operations of the site, group of work cells or a plant. Key priorities are to meet safety, production goals (On Time Delivery), quality, Inventory and cost objectives. Works with various cell or team leaders daily to prioritize production schedules for recurring products customer requirements, new product introduction, equipment efficiency / utilization, capacity, and materials supply. Plans and administers operating policies, procedures. Responsible for meeting budgets for his / her areas of responsibility and makes budgetary recommendations for the following FY. Controls expenses and capital expenditures as well as direct / indirect labor variances. Develops schedules and resource requirements for assigned areas. Select, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Knows how to facilitate daily problem solving and when to escalate to the site operations manager or director. More than anything, this person must be a great leader with positive employee relations skills whom people want to follow and customers are satisfied with at all times.
You are responsible for:
  • Provide high quality level of leadership and coaching for the production employees
  • Create a positive work environment where everyone has the opportunity to perform at their very best
  • Implement a DAILY Management process with Rhythm and Rigor to assure daily plans are met
  • Understand all relevant KPIs and drive to meet / exceed targets
  • Ensure production schedules are met to meet customer needs and completion of all paperwork entries are timely and accurate
  • Manage and monitor the relationship of downtime, changeovers and process improvements as it directly relates to quality,
  • Optimize setup times and programs by working with engineering to improve equipment and operational efficiencies
  • Understand, follow and enforce internal documented procedures as well as AS9100 requirements
  • Recruit, develop, retain, and maintain a high quality team
  • Collaborate with the operations leadership team as well as BU / corporate ops teams where needed
  • Perform regular audits to verify conformance to quality systems, production schedules and working hours
  • Able to know who should meet what requirements (interpret specs / blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, recommend measures to improve production methods
  • Optimize equipment performance and quality of product
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop or department
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Capture ideas and make actionable
  • Capture key process indicators as required by management use system tools
  • Drive and manage a continuous improvement (Kaizen) pipeline
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and overall leadership skills
  • Proven track record for high quality product delivery
  • Good team-building and project management skills
  • Ability to lead / motivate a team to the highest standards of work
  • Ability to run the production floor with best manufacturing practices within Lean Operating System Context

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering preferred))
  • 5 years of experience in an electronic manufacturing/production role (RF & SMT experience preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience supervising teams in a related discipline
  • Experienced in (or good knowledge of) Aerospace and Defense manufacturing environment and its regulatory requirements
  • Strong end to end manufacturing knowledge (planning, purchasing, scheduling, industrial engineering, quality...etc.)
  • Good understanding of Lean and Six Sigma tool sets (5s, 8D, best practice, continues improvement, DMAIC...etc.)
