Biological Sciences Instructors (Residential Summer Employment)

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has exciting summer employment opportunities for graduate students and alumni interested in teaching biological science.

As a CTY instructor, you lead a small class of 12-18 bright students through a rigorous and interactive three-week course with the support of a teaching assistant. Our classes have generous lab budgets. In addition to a competitive salary, instructors receive housing and meals on campus. Positions are available on the East and West coasts.
 
Our biological science courses for 5th-6th graders are:
  • Examining the Evidence
  • Marine Ecology
  • The Sensory Brain

Our biological science courses for 7th-10th graders are:
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Biotechnology
  • Fast-Paced High School Biology
  • Genetics
  • Introduction to the Biomedical Sciences
  • Neuroscience
  • Paleobiology
  • Whales and Estuary Systems
  • Zoology

Our biological science courses for 10th-12th graders are:
  • Epidemiology, Re-emerging Infectious Diseases, and Pandemics
  • The Global Environment
  • Science, Technology, and Public Policy
  
Desired Qualifications
Successful instructor candidates have significant lead teaching experience and relevant degrees. Experience working with young people is strongly preferred.

Terms of Employment
  • Salary ranges from $2,400 to $3,000 depending upon years of experience and education.
  • Housing and meals are provided at residential sites.
  • Employees provide their own transportation to domestic sites.
