Marketing Analytics Intern

Marketing Analytics Intern:


Our summer internship program is a 12 week, paid program in Columbus, OH. Housing is provided along with social outings, philanthropy events, and professional development workshops.

The Marketing Analytics Intern will assist the marketing analytics team by providing data driven insights towards portfolio performance and expectations; with the goal of providing guidance to our key internal partners through thorough understanding of profitability levers, macro-economic influences, brand specific challenges, business capability impacts and the impact they have on the business; enabling effective positioning/selling of our credit loyalty products and enduring loyalty from the end customer.

Essential Job Functions
Assist in designing, creating, evaluating, optimizing, and delivering quantitative and qualitative offerings in relation to the performance of various portfolio segments and the effectiveness of our key performance metric forecasting. (including, but not limited to, sales and new account forecasting, development and delivery of core performance metric reporting, attribution and gap analysis, seasonal trends, and aspects of the New Business review (NBR) process ).

Data is extracted from a variety of customized sources, with a number of tools. A quantitative background is necessary to effectively navigate and pull logical meaning around the data. The responsibility of the individual is to understand how to find/extract the needed data (Design), structure the output (Create), understand what it means and implies (Evaluate), turn the data into information (Optimize) and provide the results/recommendations (Deliver) directly to key internal partners, which includes, but not limited to, Client Sales, Finance, product owners, Marketing, other key SLT members, and 3rd Parties (Brand Partners, Vendors, Sister Companies) to directly impact business decisions.

Act as contact/resource for the product owners for adhoc requests and other inquiries. Become a first point of contact within Marketing Analytics for each product owner
Regularly relied upon by key internal partners to consult and provide advice leading to decisions and/or recommendations in relation to portfolio growth strategy and sales forecasting
Effectively researches and resolves ad-hoc requests in relation to current and potential understanding of portfolio performance at Alliance Data
Participate in strategic projects to identify enhancements to data analyses and reporting that will have a positive impact on Alliance Data's ability to deliver relevant marketing and create enduring loyalty (focus on the end-customer and brand partner) with an emphasis on profitability.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Working towards Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Finance, or other quantitative field. Additional coursework, concentrations or experience in Marketing or Business.
MS Office Products (particularly Excel), exposure to retail, financial services, and business analysis
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•            Knowledge of: Concepts in marketing and finance
•            Knowledge of: Analytical and quantitative approaches, logic and reasoning,
prioritization skills, attention to detail and self-auditing
•            Knowledge of: The retail business model
•            Strong Skills in: Microsoft Office, MicroStrategy, SQL, Essbase, Tableau or
similar BI products
•            Ability to: Build relationships, influence key partners, and manage conflict
•            Ability to: Meet established deadlines and work on multiple projects
simultaneously
•            Ability to: Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
•            Independent, Proactive, Curious
