Entry Level Linux Engineer - Storage Lab

About the Group:
Seagate's Cloud Systems is working on a new storage software platform focused on scalability, extensibility and reuse. About the Role:

  • You’ll work with the internal Seagate team to develop a resilient, high performing storage platform. 
  • You’ll work closely with a team of lab engineers to provide a robust development and test infrastructure for rapid product development.
  • You’ll set up lab equipment such as network switches, storage systems, servers, etc as directed. This includes everything from receiving equipment, racking, cabling, configuring, and ultimately making available for developers and testers.
  • You’ll assist on proof of concept work related to cloud storage integration with storage systems

About you:

  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • General networking knowledge and familiarity with Linux network related commands
  • Some Linux administration skills
  • Familiarity with at least one configuration management system (puppet, salt, ansible, chef etc) is highly desired
  • Some experience with physical data center hardware such as servers, storage, and network switches.

Your experience includes

  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Knowledge of Linux systems and troubleshooting
  • General networking knowledge and being familiar with basic linux networking tools (ip, route, iptables etc)
  • Bachelor's degree

You might also have: 

  • Advanced network knowledge - Mellanox, Cumulus Networks
  • Some field experience through advanced academic projects and/or industry internships
  • Familiarity with Redhat kickstart unattended provisioning via PXE (preferred) or debian preseed 
  • Familiarity with virtualization solutions (VMware, RHEV, oVirt)
  • Containerized applications using Docker/LXC, etc
