HR and Talent Development Business Partner

This Human Resources and Talent Development Business Partner through leadership and partnerships, provides expertise to develop, implement and support people-focused initiatives and tasks to make a positive impact on the business and team members within the Manufacturing Operations function. As an initiative owner or as a supporting business partner to specific teams within Operations, project management and process execution of strategic and tactical needs will occur. All realms of Human Resources such recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, engagement, retention, administrative process execution, communication, integration, and other HR matters will be supported areas of focus. Position also responsible for manufacturing skills, leadership development, career advancement programs and talent planning processes throughout Operations. Travel to Pella’s manufacturing locations may occasionally be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of this Human Resources and Talent Development Business Partner include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

General Duties
  • Leads, participates or collaborates on key human resources initiatives, processes or programs to maintain or improve a world-class work environment and accomplish Pella’s strategic business objectives.
  • Obtains data, conduct analysis, evaluate trends, interpret finding and assesses actions to determine best actions to support business and team member needs.  
  • Coordinates and provides key human resources communications. Ensures confidentiality.
  • In accordance with policy, act as a neutral party to thoroughly investigate and address employee relation matters in a timely manner through completion Supports actions to ensure function operates within all company and government rules, regulations, compliance and procedures. 
  • Support the development and delivery of total rewards programs and communications inclusive of compensation processes for exempt, professional non-exempt and hourly team members. 
  • Anticipates employee and organizational issues and needs, make recommendations, and implement solutions to attract, motivate, develop, and retain employees in alignment with organizational objectives. 
  •  Provides on-going advice, coaching, and policy interpretation to management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. 
  • Position requires up to 20% travel, including overnights to provide project implementation, training and development delivery or consulting, employee relations and process effectiveness support, and continuous improvement events.  
 
Team Member Development, Performance Management and Talent Planning
  • Champions Pella’s talent development philosophies and processes.
  • Owns the strategy, development, delivery and effectiveness of skills and leadership training, development programs, team member onboarding, performance management inclusive of talent review, succession planning, performance reviews, and performance improvement processes within Operations to build and strengthen Pella’s talent pipeline.
  • Ensures systems/technology is effectively utilized to support delivery and tracking of development actions while supporting a positive user experience.
  • Ensures proper training takes place to support Pella’s Respectful Work Environment and People-Focused Culture.
  • Ensures new team members obtain an exceptional onboarding and training experience. 
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has supervisory responsibilities of one to two positions, however, also partners with others to ensure superior performance relative to execution of HR policies, processes and programs which support servant leadership and align with Pella’s People Focused Culture.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Organization Development, Human Resources or related field, or equivalent related experience in education and training of skills required plus minimum of 2 years professional experience within a Human Resources generalist and/or training and development related position.

  • Knowledge and certifications for personality, strengths, and competency assessments – HBDI, Strengths Finder 2.0, Predictive Index, Meyers Briggs, and EQ360 preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, or industry reports. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy or strategy documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of conceptual or quantitative information and as a result, make recommendations that impact business growth strategies.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. PeopleSoft, Taleo and SharePoint knowledge helpful.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PHR preferred but not required.
