Job Title:

seedsprint Startup and Technology Ambassador for Recruitment (STAR)

Who:

Undergrad STEM majors and business/startup enthusiasts who are comfortable with STEM topics.

Schedule:

This is a remote position with flexible hours (5-15 per week), based on availability. These positions start in January 2020 and last through April 2020 with potential to continue into the summer.

Description:

We’re looking for science majors and startup enthusiasts who are interested in learning about technology transfer and commercialization – the process of getting scientific inventions from the lab to the market. You will find out about and make connections with fast-growing startups, while learning how innovation moves between universities, startups, and large firms.

STAR work involves research on deep-tech startups, research organizations, incubators, and industry R&D leaders. The work involves online research to find relevant startups and related entities such as accelerators, and in compiling and improving profiles about them. Other activities may include writing for our blog, representing seedsprint at academic industry partnership events, and introducing research faculty to our platform. Heavily involved STAR may also contribute to some elements of company strategy and learn advanced Excel or basic Python programming.

Depending on our workload, STARs may specialize in a particular type of research, such as identifying technology hubs, extracting contact information, categorizing companies, or identifying technology scouts. We try to have all STARs who are interested in data science and management get a chance to work with tools for extraction, cleaning, enrichment, and analysis.

Training is provided, and STARs will learn on the job.
