Public Information & Marketing Program Manager

The position will report to the Director of the Department and will manage the department’s staff responsible for carrying out media relations, community engagement and marketing and outreach activities for the Economic Development Department. The position will report work with executive management team through the ongoing communication plans, strategy development and implementation of a new marketing process for the department.
This position provides oversight of the Department’s strategic marketing and communications efforts, including but not limited to media relations, social media presence (such as Twitter, Facebook, etc), and promotional activities. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Overseeing and guiding the Department’s communications strategies.
• Assign marketing and communications projects/tasks, including assigns roles for creating assets and copy.
• Providing Department staff with public perception risk assessment and options to address community concerns.
• Marketing plan development and timeline in coordination with Division POC.
• Oversight of a style guide development with team and maintaining a library of communication collateral.
• Internal planning calendar for departmental messaging.
• Budgeting in coordination with Division POC.
• External communication approvals.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, or related field plus six (6) years of work experience two (2) of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • A Master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required non-supervisory experience.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
