Dean of Residential Life (Summer Employment)

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has exciting summer employment opportunities for residential life professionals.

For decades, CTY summer programs have provided a fun and enriching experience for the most academically advanced elementary, middle, and high school in the world.

Working with CTY in the summer can provide a great opportunity to work with dedicated colleagues, diverse professional staff members, engaged students, and ample resources. Positions are available at residential sites on the East and West coasts. Room and board are provided in addition to salary for staff at residential sites. Opportunities are available for staff to work four or seven weeks.
 
The dean of residential life assumes primary responsibility for supervising the residential staff and directing the residential program. Specifically, the dean of residential life supervises the senior resident assistants and the resident assistants. In addition, the dean of residential life works closely with the academic dean(s) and other staff members involved with academic life to help integrate the residential and academic aspects of the program. The dean of residential life may be asked to assume the site director's responsibilities in the site director's absence.


Terms of Employment:

  • Starting salary is $6,400 for a seven-week period
  • Attendance the first weekend in June at an orientation in Baltimore, Friday to Sunday (no additional compensation, but CTY pays travel expenses and provides room and board)
  • Telephone and email consultations throughout the year, as needed
  • Room and board are provided
  • Employees pay their travel to and from domestic program locations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in a residential life setting or at a residential summer camp
  • Graduate course work
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexibility
