Hospitality and Events Management Internship

Hospitality and Events Management Internship – Assistant Patron Services Manager Overview

The Englert Theatre is seeking two student interns to work alongside the Patron Services Manager for our Spring season.
This experience will equip the intern with hospitality planning and execution skills as well as direct experience in artist and patron interaction. It will allow for the intern to work independently, as part of an intimate team, and get an inside look at how to lead a large, multi-departmental team at a professional performing arts venue. It is an opportunity to be involved in hospitality and event management in a professional setting and get a foot in the door of Iowa City's last historic performing arts venue.

Term specifications
The intern will work between 40-60 hours between the fourth week of January and the first few weeks of May.
The expectation will be ~4-6 hours per week during the Spring semester. Scheduling is based on Englert performance programming, which varies from week to week. A great degree of schedule flexibility is desirable for this internship, as Performer's riders (list of expected items) often show up with little lead time before a performance. Interns will be expected to assist with hospitality purchasing and placement within a rolling window of lead time (approx. 2 hours - 1.5 days) before a touring show loads in.

  • Punctuality and respect for deadlines
