The Legal Assistant at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota will provide direct service for immigrants and refugees of all nationalities. The Legal Assistant will screen individuals for immigration legal service program eligibility. The position also will support ILCM’s legal work, primarily on U Visa cases and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) self-petition cases, and on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) cases. The Legal Assistant will oversee pending applications for updates and correspondence; coordinate services between ILCM and victim advocacy agencies; gather relevant documents such as law enforcement certifications and police records; and assist in preparing cases for filing with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
