Roles & Responsibilities
As a Restorative Practices Fellow, you will:
  • Enhance the school’s capacity to implement Restorative Practices 
  • Promote a safe and supportive school climate 
  • Develop positive and productive relationships with individual students 
  • Provide push-in support in classrooms
  • Spend non-academic time each day getting to know students in a range of settings and ensuring that each student is known and appreciated
  • Work with restorative justice coordinator to develop and implement tier 1 community building interventions

Professional Development & Training
To support your ability to do this work, Restorative Practices Fellows will receive the following training:
  • Restorative practices philosophies and implementation
  • Community engagement to learn about the Dudley community history, assets, and aspirations, and engage with community partners through multi-faceted experiences outside of schools. DPC believes that this connection will give corps members an understanding that allows them to better serve students.
  • Social justice-oriented coaching and support to leverage education to push the needle toward equity 

Together, these learning opportunities are designed to help you remain engaged leaders in your communities long after the service year.

Teamwork & Collaboration
Education Fellows are part of Dudley Promise Corps (DPC), a full-time, one-year neighborhood-based AmeriCorps service program serving BPE’s Dearborn STEM Academy. DPC leverages the power of national service to support all students in Dudley to stay on track to attend college and serve as responsible citizens in their community, while simultaneously developing corps members as engaged civic leaders committed to social justice. 

As part of the DPC team, you will
  • Collaborate with school staff to build whole-school community and a culture that promotes high levels of student engagement and investment
  • Support opportunities to expand students’ learning and growth by leading, contributing, and/or developing enrichment programs, school-wide initiatives, and clubs
